Exercise
There's a pretty good reason
most people loathe the idea of gyms, and if they don't loathe the
idea, there is most always an initial hesitation, which I have a
theory about.
Most of us spend the majority
of our lives indoors. Although some people might claim to not like
dirt, bugs, itchy grass, mud etc.., most people, once stuck in,
LOVE that amazing wild and completely
natural feeling of being active outdoors. We are hard wired
for survivng on and with the natural world. What used to
be a normal lifestyle, is something we now do on the weekends if
we're lucky.
It's no wonder that more of us
are depressed, anxious, stressed and bored.
It's now been proven that
depression can be
greatly reduced by just 5 minutes of exercise out of doors every
day. This is one reason, I have decided to shift my
personal training away from the gym, and out into the weather. I am
constantly looking for new playgrounds, either man made or natural,
for myself and my clients.
I find it really interesting
that only young children use the playground. What a shame. Why on
earth would you want to pay to get on a dreadmill, when you can go
outside, breathe
fresh air and awaken all your senses and maybe even swing
from a jungle gym for free. Who says you have to be under 10
to climb a
tree. Has humankind forgotten it's waterproof?
or...
maybe it's too
embarrasing to
let yourself loose in the
wild. Why
not bring a friend. If your friends
think your crazy, hire a personal trainer, and if your PT only
works out of a gym, find one who prefers the outdoors, hint
